I wish I could tell them that yes, it came close, but we did save the Denniston Plateau. I wish I could say to my grandkids that, looking back, by 2013 the tide was turning. Maybe it was the movement to divest from fossil fuels that clinched it, as Bill McKibben’s 350 campaign began to grow that year from a little ripple to a wave....

As Rose writes, the Key to building a movement to save Denniston... Will begin with a ripple that builds into a wave. If it is ever to become a wave, this ripple will begin where the people live to enable it to grow to come a wave so big that it can wash all the way to the remote Denniston Plateau, where few would otherwise go.

We have been lucky. The greedy fossil fools in their stupid arrogance have given us target to help us build this wave, right at the doorstep of Auckland.,

A day's march on foot, from New Zealand's most populous city Fonterra plans to dig an open cast coal mine where everyone can see it, straddling the highway to the Coramandel and Thames, Auckland's weekend get-a-way destination.

We can save Mangatangi,

To save Mangatangi will be to save Denniston.

Let Fonterra and through them, Bathurst, know, that "No New Coal Mines" means no new coal mines!
